160 M€ are required for the construction and commissioning of the first industrial phase and EA Green Energy (current name of the project developer) has ensured an investment of 178.08 M$ with foreign investors. It has the firm commitment of institutional investors from the USA and the support of internationally prestigious insurance entities. Having reached this commitment, the promoter is closing the construction agreement with one of the most important Spanish construction companies and looking for a bank, based in Spain, to be the custodian of the capital.

The Barcial del Barco Multifunctional Biorefinery will produce 160,000 m3 of bioethanol and 120,000 tons of feed with a multifunctional system. It will use beets and corn (collected within a radius of 50 km) as feedstocks. The plant represents a green industrial model that will transform the Region of Castile-Leon, creating 2,000 indirect jobs and one hundred direct jobs (in a first phase). It will contribute to the decarbonisation of the planet and will enable to obtain benefits from beets, an endogenous and social crop that is currently in decline. From other parts of Castile-Leon and even from other countries, interest has been expressed in building a second and third plant. In this sense, EA Green Energy is considering La Robla (Leon) as zone II of industrial development.
