Suntory unveils PET bottle prototypes made from 100% plant-based materials

Mitsubishi Chemical licenses patent for biobased PET to Kuraray Group

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) has signed a licensing agreement with Kuraray Co., Ltd. and Kuraray trading Co., Ltd. for the basic patent JP4380654 on biobased polyester and related patents. This licensed product refers to PET (polyethylene terephthalate) derived from biomass and is expected to be used for various purposes including fibre production. The patent owned by MCC is the basic one required for business operations engaged in the manufacture or sale of this material. MCC has already registered the patent not only in Japan but also in the US, EU and China.
