Anhui Guozhen and Chemtex to build a cellulosic ethanol biorefinery in China with Clariant’s technology

Anhui Guozhen Group (Anhui Guozhen), Chemtex
Chemical Engineering (Chemtex) and Clariant have signed a license agreement on
sunliquid® cellulosic ethanol technology. Anhui Guozhen and Chemtex have agreed
to form a joint venture to realize a full-scale commercial biorefinery for the
production of cellulosic ethanol in Anhui province with Clariant’s technology. It
is the first license deal for sunliquid in China and the third overall.

It will
be used in the Chinese regional fuels market as blend into gasoline to
fulfill the national blending mandate.

Detailed
project evaluations and preparations for the engineering phase are well
underway.
The
project execution is pending a final agreement of certain government
contracts for the project.

Anhui Guozhen tried to carry out a similar project
with M&G Chemicals before the bankruptcy of Gruppo Mossi Ghisolfi in 2017.
