Ontario invests in the commercial biorefinery of Comet Biorefining to support agri-food sector

The Ontario Government is investing up to 8 M$ in Comet Biorefining through its Jobs and Prosperity Fund - Food and Beverage Growth Fund. The finance will help to establish the commercial-scale biorefinery of this company in Sarnia (Ontario, Canada) whose total investment amounts to 79.8 M$. The new production plant will create 82 new direct jobs and 158 new indirect jobs. The Comet's proprietary technology allows for the conversion of local agricultural residues (wheat straw, corn stover and wood products) into high purity ingredients, boosting the agri-based value chain and the emerging bioproduct ecosystem in Sarnia.
