Attis preselects six potential sites in USA for its biorefining facilities

Type of post: NEWS IN BRIEF.

Attis Industries, Inc. (“Attis”), a diversified innovation and technology holding company, has announced the approval of six potential sites for the construction of biorefining facilities in the USA (see press release, 22/5/2018). The firm owns a portfolio of patented and patent-pending technologies, all with a view towards building a network of advanced biorefineries designed to convert biomass into renewable alternatives for petroleum-derived fuels, plastics and other products.

Attis has just narrowed its list of potential sites down to a few locations in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky and Minnesota, after evaluating the incentive offerings from various state governments and the commercial proposals of targeted land owners, site developers, contractors, feedstock suppliers and supply chain partners. According to the company, each of the proposed facilities will stimulate development for its host community while diversifying revenues and creating about 35 jobs per plant (about 50% of which will be skilled). Attis is looking forward to making the final selections in the coming weeks and months. In fact, it is planning to choose at least two sites in 2018.

Attis technology enables the cost effective processing at flow rates of 200 tons per day. It is able to process many agroforest by-product streams such as bark, sawdust, pecan shells and rice hulls. The major asset of the technology is the lignin recovery process that allows to obtain a high quality lignin in the form of a meltable thermoplastic material.
