Kemin launches dry cellulase for corn kern fiber

Kemin Biofuels (part of Kemin Industries) has expanded its enzyme portfolio with ZyloCell™, a dry cellulase for use in bioethanol plants that breaks down cellulose in corn kernel fiber.

ZyloCell is a cost-effective alternative to liquid enzyme formulation. In addition to increased bioethanol production, it provides bioethanol producers the following benefits: 12-month stability for longer shelf life without refrigeration; concentrated for less storage space; dry powder for easier handling and accurate dosing.

Versión en Español Type of post: NEWS.  Last month, ten private- and public-sector partners ( Alco Bio Fuel , ArcelorMittal , ENGIE , Fluxys , Mitsubishi Power , North Sea Port , Oiltanking , PMV , POM Oost-Vlaanderen , Proman ) launched the North-C-Methanol project. Nine months ago, the Blog reported that Total Corbion PLA , the 50/50 joint venture between Total and Corbion, had successfully started-up a 1 kton/year poly(lactic acid) (PLA) pilot plant and produced the first samples of Luminy® resins. Celtic Renewables to build plant for demonstrating production of biobutanol from whisky residue

Type of post: NEWS IN BRIEF. Celtic Renewables Ltd , a Scottish start-up, has secured permission from Falkirk Council to build a demonstrator plant in Grangemouth. The company has developed a ground-breaking application for producing biobutanol based on the traditional ABE fermentation. Working closely with Tullibardine Distillery in Perthshire, Celtic Renewables is helping to derive value from the production residues of the malt whisky industry in Scotland (currently produces almost 750,000 tons of draff and 2 billion litres of pot ale) by converting it into advanced biofuel and other high value low carbon products.
