Gevo signs sustainable aviation fuel sales agreement with Scandinavian Airline System

Gevo, Inc. has signed a sales agreement with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS) to produce and supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for use and distribution in United States.

SAS has an ambitious goal to reduce its emissions by 25 % in 2030. In order to do this and bridge the gap to a future zero emission aviation, it is determined to increase the use of biofuels.

With the finalization of this new contract, Gevo will supply SAF to SAS from the expansion of its plant in Luverne (Minnesota, USA) which is expected to be constructed over the next several years. Gevo has succeeded in concluding similar agreements in the past:
- “Gevo and Lufthansa sign agreement for commercial supply of renewable Alcohol-To-Jet Fuel”, 8/9/2016.
- “HCS Group and Gevo sign agreement for the purchase and sale of renewable isooctane”, 1/3/2019.
- “Air TOTAL and Gevo enter into agreement on producing and supplying sustainable aviation fuel”, 17/8/2019.

For every gallon of SAF produced, Gevo also produces approximately 10 pounds of protein that goes into the food supply chain and can sequester up to 2 pounds of carbon dioxide as carbon into the soil, making it one of the only renewable jet fuel producers to produce both food and fuel while sequestering carbon dioxide and lowering the GHG emissions as compared to traditional fossil-based jet fuel. Gevo will also be more transparent with its sustainability practices by utilizing blockchain technology to track its sustainable agriculture efforts.

Shell Chemical to produce renewable surfactants for Henkel's laundry detergents

Henkel and Shell Chemical LP have agreed to a five-year collaboration to replace up to 200,000 tons of fossil feedstocks used in the manufacture of surfactants with feedstocks that are based on renewable raw materials. The renewable-based surfactants will be used in Henkel’s laundry product brands, including many varieties of Persil®, Purex® and all® brands. Surfactants are an ingredient in cleaning products that help lather and lift dirt. Mercurius Biorefining plans to establish pilot and demo plants in Queensland

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is testing a novel technology called REACH which has been developed by the US company Mercurius Biorefining (Mercurius) to convert biomass into jet and diesel fuels. Shell and Raízen sign cellulosic ethanol deal
