Global Bioenergies and IBN-One receive 3.1 M€ to move forward on its renewable isobutene plant project

A short update about IBN-One, a joint venture established in 2015 by Global Bioenergies and Cristal Union to build and operate the first plant in France converting renewable feedstock into isobutene. Global Bioenergies and IBN-One will receive 2.6 and 0.5 M€ respectively in the form of repayable advances to move forward on the plant project.

The funding was released the achievement of a technical and financial milestone last July in the ISOPROD project funded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), which involves Global Bioenergies, Cristal Union and L’Oréal. According to the press release, the engineering studies are progressing, and the venture is working at precisely defining the market opportunities for the renewable isobutene. The plant’s business plan is now focused on the field of cosmetics for natural ingredients and displays a very high profitability. It is expected that the financial plan is closed by the summer of 2020.
