Diamond Green Diesel, a joint venture formed by Diamond Alternative Energy LLC (subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation) and Darling Ingredients Inc., will expand the annual production capacity of its renewable diesel biorefinery in Norco (Lousiana) using Honeywell UOP’s Ecofining™ process technology to meet growing demand for renewable fuels in North America and Europe.

In March 2017, Honeywell UOP announced that the facility would expand its annual production capacity of renewable diesel from 10,000 bpd to 18,000 bpd (275 Mgal per year) of Honeywell Green Diesel™, a high-quality renewable fuel. In fact, currently is the largest commercial advanced biofuel facility in the United States. The plant expansion is expected to be completed in late 2021 and will increase the facility’s annual production by nearly 150 percent, to 675 Mgal per year. The project will add a second, parallel plant adjacent to the existing facility. After the expansion, Diamond Green Diesel will also produce about 60 million gallons per year of renewable naphtha for gasoline. This investment of 1,100 M$ will place the Norco plant as one of the world’s largest renewable diesel biorefineries.
