Greenergy has announced that they are investing in a project to produce low-carbon transportation fuels from waste tires, utilising a combination of existing technologies (pyrolysis and hydrotreating).

Thames Enterprise Park (near London, UK).

Feedstock and processing capacity

Up to 300 tons of shredded tires per day (1st phase).

Products

- Drop-in renewable fuels: diesel and gasoline in the 1st hydrotreating unit (1st phase), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the 2nd hydrotreating unit.

- Carbon black to produce new tyres and other industrial rubber products.

Technologies

- Advanced thermal treatment technology: thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions’

- Hydroprocessing (both units): Haldor Topsoe’s HydroFlex™.

Conceptual desing

Developed in Canada by Green Tire Technology Ltd.

Start-up

Commercial production in 2025.
