DMC demonstrates full commercial scale production of L-alanine

DMC Biotechnologies (DMC) has successfully demonstrated the production at full commercial scale of its first product, the amino acid L-alanine.

The scale-up results identically tracked the performance at bench and pilot scales, further validating the predictability and scalability of DMC’s Dynamic Metabolic Control technology. Importantly, commercial performance metrics were demonstrated, meaning that no further strain improvements are required to achieve the target selling price. The scale-up process was conducted at EW Biotech’s facility (85 m3 fermentation) in Leuna (Germany).

Vertoro wins grant to build a lignin biorefinery in the Port of Rotterdam

VTT releases its last results in bioplastic development - FDCA and muconic acid

For many experts, 2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) is called upon to revolutionise the biobased plastics industry in the near future. The main production material of drinking bottles is still oil-based PET using purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glycol (EG). However, FDCA can replace PTA to obtain PEF, a new high-performance biopolymer. Recently, the Blog devoted a whole post to FDCA (see FDCA biorefineries ). Such post shows a non-exhaustive list of the most important processes developed or under research by companies and research institutes.
