In the autumn budget, the Swedish Government has considered an investment over two years (200 MSEK in 2021 and 150 MSEK in 2022) by the Swedish Government to intensify work on sustainable solutions in the bioeconomy. Over the past decade, a number of R&D projects in the biorefining field have placed Sweden at the forefront when it comes to technologies, processes and products in the early development phase. However, major challenges remain before the research results can be translated into new companies and new jobs. This investment will stimulate the commercialization of new technologies, products and services, as well as the establishment of a world-class centre for a resource-efficient circular bioeconomy.
