More news coming from the Red Rock Biofuels plant in Lakeview (Oregon, USA):
- Wood has secured a multimillion-dollar contract from IR1 Group LLC, whose team is in charge of the project (Red Rock Biofuels is a IR1 Group subsidiary). 
- Wood has been contracted to provide construction and mechanical services.
- The construction of the Lakeview facility is expected to take approximately two years. Previous news pointed 18 months.

Shell Chemical to produce renewable surfactants for Henkel's laundry detergents

Henkel and Shell Chemical LP have agreed to a five-year collaboration to replace up to 200,000 tons of fossil feedstocks used in the manufacture of surfactants with feedstocks that are based on renewable raw materials. The renewable-based surfactants will be used in Henkel’s laundry product brands, including many varieties of Persil®, Purex® and all® brands. Surfactants are an ingredient in cleaning products that help lather and lift dirt. There are four possible isomers for this molecule: n-butanol, isobutanol, tert-butanol and sec-butanol. Their different structures have a straight impact on their physical and chemical properties. Mercurius Biorefining plans to establish pilot and demo plants in Queensland

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is testing a novel technology called REACH which has been developed by the US company Mercurius Biorefining (Mercurius) to convert biomass into jet and diesel fuels. On 20 th February, the Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning of Queensland (Cameron Dick) joined the CEO of Mercurius (Karl Seck) at Brisbane’s QUT Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities (CTCB) to view the results of this scientific testing and discussing a plan to establish a pilot plant in Queensland area (see media statements , 20/2/2018). Shell and Raízen sign cellulosic ethanol deal
