CE&P and Saipem sign an agreement for the construction of an ethanol plant in California

California Ethanol & Power, LLC (CE&P) and Saipem and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding as well as an exclusive agreement for the realisation of a low carbon emission plant for the production of ethanol, electricity, biomethane and other secondary products derived from sugar cane (see press release, 2/7/2018). Saipem will carry out the design and construction of the non-electrical part of the entire project and related services. General Electric was selected as the EPC firm for the power island some months ago.

Location
Imperial County, South of California.
Feedstock and processing capacity
52,000 acres of sugarcane grown year-round.
CE&P is already growing sugarcane to be processed by the facility.
Products and production capacity
68 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol.
66.5 megawatts of renewable electricity.
930 million cubic feet of biomethane.
Timeline
The commencement of activities is subject to the finalisation of financial agreements.
