BETO publishes the summary report of a workshop on performance-advantaged biobased chemicals

The US Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) has published a report that summarizes the results of the workshop entitled “Moving Beyond Drop-In Replacements: Performance-Advantaged Biobased Chemicals” held in Denver (Colorado, USA) on June 1, 2017. Performance-advantaged bioproducts are defined as novel products where the biobased molecule does not resemble an existing petroleum derived molecule in structure and offer a performance advantage over conventional products. There are still many challenges facing their development and also many possible ways to address those challenges. So, BETO hosted an event aimed at soliciting stakeholder feedback to formulate a plan going forward.
