Biozin Holding AS receives Shell support for biocrude production project in Norway

Biozin Holding AS has entered into an agreement with Shell for financial support of their ongoing work to build a full-scale biocrude production facility in Norway. Biozin Holding AS is a Norwegian company currently owned by Biozin AS (78.7%), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bergene Holm AS, and Preem AB (21.3%). It was established to produce renewable fuels from sawmills and forestry residues.

The funding will support ongoing activities as part of the pre-engineering phase of the project. During this phase, Biozin Holding AS will further develop the basis for its final investment decision, as well as the contract for the detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the production facility.

Åmli (Agder county, Norway).
Feedstock and processing capacity
Woody feedstock, such as forestry residues and by-products from the sawmill industry.
1,000 dry tons of biomass per day.
Product
Advanced second-generation crude bio-oil, Biozin®.
Bio-oil can then be refined, blended and distributed as a clean fuel.
Technology
Shell’s IH2®.
IH² (Integrated Hydropyrolysis and Hydroconversion) technology is a continuous catalytic thermochemical process estimated to provide a cost-effective route, from a broad spectrum of organic wastes to fungible liquid hydrocarbon transportation fuels.
