Shell joins W2C Rotterdam project

- There is an important update on the commercial-scale waste-to-chemicals (W2C) project in Rotterdam whose advances have been reported regularly by the Blog (see previous posts below for more information). The current consortium of companies (comprising Air Liquide, Nouryon, Enerkem and the Port of Rotterdam) has announced that Shell will join as an equity partner.
- According to preliminary news, the final investment decision (FID) was going to be made during 2018. Finally, the partners aim to take the FID later in 2019 as it pursues the development work and finalizes the selection of an EPC contractor.
- The facility’s sustainable methanol output will be purchased by Nouryon and Shell.
