Leaf and PETRONAS Chemicals sign MoU for a study of renewable chemicals market
Type of post: FLASH NEWS.
- Leaf Resources Limited have just
announced that PETRONAS
Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) and Leaf Malaysia have entered into a
non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in relation to Leaf’s proposed
biorefinery project in Malaysia.
- The MoU provides for, among other things, a
study of chemical markets and commercially ready biotechnologies. Subject to
satisfactory findings in the study and the approval of PCG, the parties may
pursue an offtake agreement for the fermentable sugars produced at the proposed
facility.
- At the end of 2017, Leaf and Verdezyne
reported that would collaborate to evaluate the use of Leaf’s cellulosic sugars
as feedstock for large scale production of biobased chemicals at Verdezyne’s VerdePalm
plant (under construction at that time). As Verdezyne abruptly closed down its
operations this May, it appears that Leaf is trying to establish new partner
for its biorefinery project.
Press release: PETRONAS
Chemicals Group Berhad enters into MOU for biorefinery offtake
(1/8/2018).
