The unit is a key element in its efforts to deliver pheromones to the market using its fermentation platform. The in-house pilot capability will both accelerate development of fermentation processes for new pheromones and production of pheromone samples for customers.
BioPhero produces biological pheromone solutions to affordable and environmentally friendly control of agricultural pests. It produces its pheromones using renewable raw materials in a single fermentation step using yeasts. The process, which is similar to brewing beer, allows pheromone solutions to be used by growers at a cost comparable to conventional insecticides. BioPhero’s business model is to supply pheromone active ingredient (AI) and work with other innovative companies to design end-use products that are suitable for various pest and crop targets.
Pheromones produced using BioPhero’s technology will reduce or even replace conventional chemical insecticides in the control of major pests of corn, soybeans, rice, and more. This will positively impact all aspects of society, including human health, the environment, and business.
