A very short update on the plans of Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (central public enterprise under the Government of India), for developing a new cellulosic ethanol project in India. According to The Hindu (see article, 22/2/2017) G.M. Siddeshwar, Member of the Parlament representing Davangere constituency of Karnataka, has recently commented that MRPL intends to set up a 2G ethanol production unit at Harihar Taluk (Davangere).
