- Biome Technologies, the parent company of Biome Bioplastics, has received further funding from UK Government as part of the 6 M£ programme that the company has led over the last five years to bring new biobased and biodegradable polymers to market using industrial biotechnology techniques.
- The new two-year, 0.8 M£ project, in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, is aimed at using microorganisms to produce 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) at pilot scale.
- This biobased building block will be used in the production of compostable and recyclable polymers suitable for flexible packaging applications. The resulting products will then be tested by a leading UK brand.
