ARD acquires the pilot platform of Procethol-2G

- ARD, a French company specialized in the fields of industrial biotechnology and green chemistry and R&D branch of the cooperative Vivescia, acquired the pilot platform of Procethol-2G on November 1, 2018. The company, of which Vivescia and ARD are two of its eleven shareholders, has developed the "Futurol" process, a proprietary 2G ethanol production technology. The 12 employees of Procethol-2G, will joined the ARD team.
- This investment will enable ARD to accelerate its industrial and commercial development while offering a second life to Procethol-2G cellulosic biomass pretreatment unit, installed since 2008 on the Pomacle-Bazancourt biorefinery. Due to lack of funding, Procethol-2G could no longer ensure the continuity of its operations.

New HVO plant enters into operation in China

According to S&P Global Platts, last month, State-owned energy company Beijing Sanju Environmental Protection & New Materials launched a 400 ktons/year capacity HVO plant in Rizhao (Shandong, China) province. The biorefinery utilizes used cooking oil (UCO) and palm oil mill effluent (POME) as feedstocks. Shell to build an HVO biorefinery in Rotterdam

Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) has announced a final investment decision to build a biofuels facility with a capacity of 820 ktons/year at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam (the Netherlands) formerly known as the Pernis refinery. Once built, the facility will be among the biggest in Europe to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel made from waste.
