BBI JU Call 2018 is open – New opportunities for developing sustainable and competitive biondustries in Europe

Type of post: NEWS IN BRIEF.

With an indicative budget of 115 M€, the fifth call of the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (H2020-BBI-JTI-2018) opened last week (11 April 2018) to address the main technological and innovation challenges that need to be overcome in order to develop sustainable and competitive biondustries in Europe. The call closure is scheduled for 6 September 2018. After two months of proposal evaluations, the results are expected to be sent to applicants in December.

All the relevant information can be found in the BBI JU website and the Participant Portal (the official EU funding communication channel). Also, it is important to mention that there is a Partnering Platform where online profiles can be created, allowing a better interaction with other potential BBI JU Call applicants.

The last Strategic Innovation and Research Agenda (SIRA) of the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) is the basis for road mapping towards the BBI JU calls for proposals, therefore, it is a compulsory reading for all the actors that are involved in the preparation of partnerships and proposals (see “SIRA 2017 – Guidelines for the European biorefining sector of the future”). Topics have been known for months as they were published via the Annual Work Plan 2018 in December 2017.

The BioRefineries Blog (BioRefInno) is available to join to consortia as communications and/or consultancy partner.
