The JRC of the EC publishes a new report on the European market of biobased chemicals

- The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has released a Science for Policy report entitled “Insights into the European market of bio-based chemicals. Analysis based on ten key product categories”.
- Highlights: The EU produces 4.7 Mt/a of biobased chemicals which represents a bio-based share of about 3.0%; Under a business-as-usual scenario, the overall bio-based share of the market is not expected to increase rapidly, with an estimated Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3.6%; Hurdles are still present in the development of the bio-based industry but also big opportunities have been identified and new policy measures could help.

Gevo signs sustainable aviation fuel sales agreement with Scandinavian Airline System

ANA and LanzaTech sign agreement for the purchase of sustainable aviation fuel

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline (on the basis of fleet size), has signed an offtake agreement with LanzaTech that will allow it to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a significant step in ANA's efforts to minimize its environmental impact. By working with LanzaTech to implement SAF, ANA hopes to enhance the quality of fuel used in its aircraft while also meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of its efforts to become the most eco-friendly airline group in the world. Alliance Bio-Products to demonstrate its CTS technology revamping closed ethanol plant

Alliance Bio-Products, Inc. , a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alliance BioEnergy Plus, Inc . , have received approval from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Rural Development for the purchase of a closed ethanol plant in Indian River County (Florida). The approved purchase includes the fully functional plant, more than 143 acres (58 ha) that the plant resides on and all related equipment and vehicles (see press release ). The former facility (INEOS New Planet BioEnergy plant) had been constructed for demonstrating at full commercial scale the economic conversion of a variety of different lignocellulosic waste biomass feedstocks to bioethanol and renewable electricity utilizing the INEOS Bio technology (gasification + fermentation). In addition to having the capacity to produce 8 million gallon (30 million litres) per year of ethanol, the plant also could generate up to 6 MW of electricity.
