Renmatix to initiate the development of its Bioneer™ Biorefinery next year

According to recent news published by Bloomberg (November 17), Renmatix will develop its first commercial biorefinery next year. The Bioneer™ biorefinery will produce between 100,000 tons to 300,000 tons of sugars annually and it will suppose the first commercial iteration of its Plantrose process. It is anticipated that the Bioneer site will be co-located with biochemical manufacturing capability. Investment and location selection announcements are expected to be made within the next year.

Operated by a Plantrose licensing partner, the facility will demonstrate world scale operation of this supercritical cellulosic conversion technology. This continuous process deconstructs a range of plant material into renewable feedstocks to produce separate streams of sugars C5/C6 from hemicellulose and cellulose. After sugar extraction, remaining lignin solids can be burned to supply heat energy required for the process or utilized in higher value applications like adhesives or thermoplastics.
