Stora Enso and Kolon to develop and industrialise biobased polyesters

Stora Enso and Kolon Industries have signed a Joint Development Agreement to develop and industrialise bio-based polyesters and their applications, as well as renewable binder resin formulations. Application areas can cover, for example, packaging, car tire reinforcements, and films for high value-added products such as electronics, panels and displays.

The development work will combine FuraCore® by Stora Enso – a proprietary process for converting fructose into FDCA (Furandicarboxylic acid) via HMF (5-hydroxymethylfurfural) – and Stora Enso’s expertise in the packaging industry with Kolon Industries’ leading expertise in polyester and phenolic resin development as well as manufacturing for a range ofm applications.

It is a naturally occurring aldaric acid, typically found in small amounts in a variety of fruits and vegetables. It is a highly functionalized compound with four chiral carbons and a plethora of reaction pathways. Gevo signs sustainable aviation fuel sales agreement with Scandinavian Airline System

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline (on the basis of fleet size), has signed an offtake agreement with LanzaTech that will allow it to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a significant step in ANA's efforts to minimize its environmental impact. By working with LanzaTech to implement SAF, ANA hopes to enhance the quality of fuel used in its aircraft while also meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of its efforts to become the most eco-friendly airline group in the world. Proman to market the biomethanol produced by the Varennes Carbon Recycling plant

Varennes Carbon Recycling, the waste to biofuels plant in Varennes (Québec, Canada) has now reached financial close, with investment agreements signed by Proman and its partners (Enerkem, Shell, Suncor, the Government of Québec). As part of the investment agreement, Proman will be entitled to market the methanol produced, which, once the plant is in operation, could make Proman the largest marketer of biomethanol globally.
