Dimeta will build its first commercial rDME production plant at Teesworks

Dimeta B.V., the joint venture of SHV Energy and UGI International, has announced the intended location of its first commercial-scale renewable dimethyl ether (rDME) production plant at Teesworks in the United Kingdom (UK). This marks a major step forward for Dimeta on its commitment to bring rDME to Europe and the United States in 2024.

Dimeta plans to produce 50,000 tonnes/year of rDME at the Teesworks production facility located in the Teesside area, which is one of the UK’s leading industrial clusters for de-fossilisation. Pending approvals, this will bring additional investment and employment opportunities to the local area. Dimeta expects to create more than 250 new jobs during construction and more than 50 skilled full-time jobs during the operational phase, which is expected by the middle of 2024. This crucial first step is part of a plan to introduce a viable new renewable product to the off-grid energy market, starting in the UK.

Shell Chemical to produce renewable surfactants for Henkel's laundry detergents

Henkel and Shell Chemical LP have agreed to a five-year collaboration to replace up to 200,000 tons of fossil feedstocks used in the manufacture of surfactants with feedstocks that are based on renewable raw materials. The renewable-based surfactants will be used in Henkel’s laundry product brands, including many varieties of Persil®, Purex® and all® brands. Surfactants are an ingredient in cleaning products that help lather and lift dirt. STC acquires DuPont’s G2 ethanol technology assets

Sustainable Technology Corporation (STC), a subsidiary of Petron Scientech Inc. , has completed the acquisition of DuPont’s 2G ethanol technology assets, capable of commercially producing ethanol from cellulosic biomass. Mura begins construction works on its first commercial-scale advanced recycling plant in Teesside
